Government Chooses AKA to Represent SA at Pan-African Festival Government Chooses AKA to Represent SA at Pan-African Festival AKA 2It’s been almost two years since the self-proclaimed “Prince of Rap” has dropped an album yet it seems nothing can stop his relentless onslaught on the music industry. Last week, the South African government through the National Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) announced that they had chosen the multi-award winning rapper everyone loves to hate, AKA, as the best “Urban Act” representative for South Africa to form part of the South African delegates who will represent the country.

The 9th Edition of the Pan-African Music Festival (FESPAM), taking place in Brazzaville, Congo, began on 13 July 2013 and will end on 20July 2013. AKA will perform with a band as part of the South African delegates tonight (July 16th) and again on July 18th in honour of Mandela’s birthday.

I guess he was being prophetic when he changed his Twitter handle to “@AKAworldwide” back in 2010. In the past year, his music has also taken him to Botswana, Malawi, Lesotho, Jamaica and the USA and assuming he keeps his word, we’ll get to witness the journey when his biographical documentary finally drops.

If he continues at this rate, his haters will are going to have to start pulling all-nighters. Shout out to the kid for representing beyond borders. AKA is currently working on his sophomore album, tentatively set to drop in September.
