Brown allegedly punched a man in the face outside the W Hotel in Washington just before 4:30 am. The man was punched for trying to include himself in a photo Chris Brown was posing for with two female fans, and apparently the singer used gay slurs before throwing his punch: “I’m not down with that gay s**t, and I feel like boxing”.
The incident happened after Brown hosted a party at a popular night club in Washington, just a stone’s throw away from where the brawl took place.
The arrest could land Brown in deeper trouble with the law since he’s currently on probation for his 2009 attack on ex girlfriend, Rihanna. If he did violate his probation with this incident, he could be sentenced up to four years in prison.
After spending a day in custody, Brown appeared in court on Monday pleading not guilty to the charges. “We understand that his security acted to protect Mr. Brown and Mr. Brown’s property as he was authorized to do under District of Columbia law. We are confident that Mr. Brown will be exonerated of any wrongdoing,” Brown’s lawyer, Danny Onorato, said after Monday’s hearing.
Since 2009, Chris Brown has had several run-ins with the law; including his bottle-throwing bar fight with rapper Drake in 2012, another dispute with R&B singer Frank Ocean in February this year, and a recent accusation of a hit-and-run.
