The personification of longevity, Pharell Williams has seemingly found the key to perfect success in everything he does. After his knock out Grammy success, Oscar nod, replacing Cee-Lo Green as the new judge of The Voice, and having just released his brand new album G I R L, he’s just made history by being a part of the theme song for the film The Amazing Spider-Man 2. “It’s On Again” by Alicia Keys featuring Kendrick Lamar was written by Williams, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer and Kendrick Lamar. The movie releases in SA on 25 April.
But it gets better. Together with Hans Zimmer and Johnny Marr, Williams joined them to craft the music score for the entire soundtrack for the film, and considering Pharrell’s latest music and soundtrack run, it should be another stellar success. Need we say more?
Speaking on the theme song, Williams had this to say: “Hans has created an iconic score theme and it was exciting to collaborate with him again on this song. When I was making the song, I knew Alicia and Kendrick had to be on it. They take the song to a whole new level.”
Alicia Keys went on to elaborate about her excitement: “I’m very excited to be a part of such a powerful collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams and Hans Zimmer. This is the next chapter in the Spider-Man legacy and we really feel [this song] captures the experience, the story—and most importantly—the meaning behind the film, which is that we all have the potential to be extraordinary. There’s a little bit of a Super Hero in all of us.”
