If you’ve never heard of ‘TribeOne: Dinokeng’ festival, fear not. It’s only in its first year and like with everything else, we’ve got you.
This year, production company, Rockstar4000, in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment and The City of Tshwane (that’s Pretoria AKA Cap City, in case you’re still coming to terms the name change) have launched what is looking like the biggest live music experience of the year. How do we know, you say? Well for starters, the line-up includes over 150 acts. They’ve even gone to the effort of getting Roc Nation emcee J. Cole, upcoming L.A rapper Kid Ink, and Grammy award winner Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to add to the already staunch line-up of major names across all genres and countries performing on three different stages. Other notable names include Kwesta, Xtatic, Keko, Zone Fam, MXO, Liquid Deep, Desmond & the Tutus, Beatenberg, Karen Zoid, Gang of Instrumentals, among many many others.
The inaugural ‘TribeOne: Dinokeng’ Music Festival will take place on 26th, 27th and 28th September 2014 (during heritage month and weekend) and will be the centrepiece of the multiple celebrations and initiatives that South Africa’s Capital City, the City of Tshwane, has set in motion to celebrate South Africa’s Heritage. As the festival’s inaugural year in 2014 coincides with South Africa’s 20 Years of Democracy, the City of Tshwane will also use this world class music festival as the platform to celebrate this milestone in South Africa.
The three-day music festival will not just be boasting a dope lineup, it will also serve as a platform for unsigned artists to perform and showcase their talent throughout the event. Submissions are currently open for emerging artists/groups of any genre who would like to perform at the event.
