We hear new music everyday. Some of it is alright, some of it is awesome and unfortunately some of it is hot garbage. That’s just how it goes.
No matter what kind of music it is, we’re not mad at any of it because it means that the hip hop community is growing. After all, there was a time where there only like ten artists who captured the interest of the music industry at large. But once in a while we are treated to the kind of song that doesn’t compromise bars for commercial appeal, and that makes us even happier.
Yesterday, PTA’s Blaklez and SA Hip hop Awards Rookie of the Year Solo premiered their collaborative song with a video. Titled ‘Hit the Ground Running’, the joint is hard-hitting and spares no space for weak rhymes.
The video is feature the two rappers on a skyscraper against the JHB skyline, pretty much just being suave in a room full of sexy women and dancers. That description is a bit of an oversimplification, it’s actually much cooler than that.
