Donald Glover’s 2017 is pretty great so far, as his show Atlanta just won two Golden Globe awards: one for best comedy series and the other for himself as best actor in a comedy series. Sadly its just been revealed that Atlanta‘s second season will actually be delayed. According to Hollywood Reporter through a press release by the FX network, new episodes will not actually air until next year (2018). The reason for the delay is said to be Donald Glover’s schedule. He will be focusing on the newstand alone Star Wars movie about Han Solo. Filming should start next month, which would mean time off Atlanta.
“Atlanta was just the beginning, the breakout comedy of the year and a series revered as much for its originality as its honest look at the experience of being aspiring, young and black in that legendary city. We’re proud to partner with Donald in an overall deal that will allow him to continue turning his creative vision into incredible television.” – Nick Grad, FX president of original programming & FX Productions
